Building a brick porch

Guys,

Where can I get information on building a brick porch. I have checked with my council and can confirm that I do not need Building Regs approval. But I'm not sure about how deep or wide the footings need to be.

I have done a good search on the web and found very little.

Any good websites I could have a look at?
