This is more of a "how do we cut a hole in our roof without regretting it" type of question. We are building a Gable carport over a 10x20 concrete slab just next to our garage. We thought we would cut through the eave to run the two of the three 4x6 posts and flash around them. Wanting more space in the carport attic and wanting to utilize the gutter system, the carport composite roof will extend over the original roof a bit. Does anyone have some helpful hints? We are not ignorant builders, just beginners.
