Hi we are in the process of overhauling a back garden which has a patio area next to the house, the patio is about 4 metres wide from the house and stretchs the length of the house by about 12 metres,
The patio then has steps going down to the garden which is about 6ft lower than the patio,
At present the patio is held together with a single brick retaining wall which is starting to give way, infront of this someone has tried to remedy the wall by fitting concrete posts and gravel boards which are 6ft high and these are starting to push out also.
We need to build a proper retaining wall to fix this problem but have been looking on the internet and now realise we may need structural enginners input and building control involved, is this the case?
