The roof is in good nick, and there are solar panels. The loft is unboarded and heavily insulated. For mounting an in-line extractor fan I ideally need to build a platform above the insulation so that the ducting angles down and it's above the insulation.
I was going to place wood from a joist to the rafter above it, and screw it into both positions, then do the same on the adjacent joist/rafter. I was then going to connect these two pieces and suspend the fan at that point.
Can I actually screw anything into rafters, or are they not to be touched?
