Building a waterfall and pond

I've always wanted a waterfall in the garden, so now the shed's nearly done, this will be my next task before paving the rest of the garden,
so basically where do i start? it's going to be in the corner of the garden, i had in mind to build an 'L' shaped concrete block wall to the height i wanted, then.... i'm not too sure, i want a sort of zig-zag type waterfall (does that sound right?) as opposed to a straight down fall, with it ending in a pond, anyone done this sort of thing and can offer any advice?
