building/fire regs.

my brother in law has replaced his kitchen window with a patio door.and replaced his old door with a new top opening window.he did this about 18 months ago without informing council.
now he wants to sell his house,what are the likely legal implications of this?

You will have to apply for a building warrant showing existing and proposed. Any alterations not certified will require building warrant - the surveyor will pick this up and request one.
