Hi all,
I was in B & Q the other day looking at the fireplaces and surrounds. There was one which was basically a slab of marble(or something that looked like it) for the back panel, framed by 3 pieces of thick wood.
The wood was quite roughly finished creating quite a rustic effect.
The price of this was a few hundred pounds which is too expensive for me, so I was thinking that it might be quite easy to make something very similar, even for someone with few DIY skills like myself.
I would just need to buy railway sleepers for the pieces of wood and then saw them to the correct length and sand them down and varnish. Then I would just have to get the back panel. All for a relatively small amount of money.
So how does this sound?
Fairly easy or not?
Cheers.
