Building Regs for a conservatory

We're getting a new conservatory but have to move a man hole cover and we've been told by builders and the council that we'll need building regs which is far enough for that

The only thing is that a few builders have told us seen as that the work will be checked to comply with the building regs is that we'll have to get some type of frosted glass in our conservatory that looks onto our neighbours. Is this correct?

The building regs application is to move the manhole, and is nothing to do with the conservatory - the BCO has no remit to comment on the conservatory.

In any case, frosted glas is nothing to do with building regulations

ah ok maybe i'm getting the wrong end of the stick

we've already got an extension so have been advised to get planning permission for a conservatory. is this why we're being told we have to have some type of frost glass on the conservatory as it looks into our neighbours garden?

You will only need PP if the volume of the conservatory takes you over your permitted development allowance (google or search here)

If PP is required, then it is likely that any glass adjacent to a boundary and above the fence line will need to be obscure and non-opening

If you can do this conservatory under permitted development then do that, and you can do what you like with the glass
