Without a context its difficult to advise you.

Why not post some pics of affected areas, and the relevant quotes from the report.

Its possibly simply a matter of condensation in an empty house - which is often the case.

Thanks ree, hopefully it just a simply condensation because the last i viewed the house its a mid terrace house approximate year of constraction 1900 i haven't seen any damp spot in the walls, ceiling even in the floor by the way its laminated floor and the 3 bedroom upstairs are laminated as well only the stairs is carpeted. that's why i'm just wondering when i received the valuation report there is essential repairs required and the detail is higher than desirable damp meter readings, i rang the agent and booked again for another view and i'll have a look every rooms thanks again :D

thanks in advance for any advice :)

Your friendly building surveyor will have spent most of his time wandering around with his moisture meter, putting it on the walls and if it says damp he puts a tick in his damp box and advises that you need further checks, im sure he can recommend you a suitable damp company too.

And the damp company will find even more damp and can reliably be expected to rip you off. :(

@OP, don't be rushed into anything, as shown by the above responses. Empty houses locked up for a year invariably come across as 'damp'.
Really, it's just lack of heating and ventilation.
