Hi all

I may be being stupid here but I can't get my head round it. We've just moved into a new (for us) house. It has a built in primo oven and separate built-in primo combination grill and microwave. This unit though has metal racks in it which I can't work out how it can then be used as a microwave? I do note that the metal racks are connected to the inside walls using plastic brackets so I assume they act as insulators.

Anybody else got anything like this?

Metal, insulated from other metal, is absolutely fine. You can leave a (single) spoon or fork, in an insulated (none conducting) dish without a problem. Two spoons or forks, etc., which touch, can be a problem. Metallic paint, will be a problem.

Contact between metallic parts, has to be very good, or well insulated. High currents and local heating occurs, where there is contact, but poor contact.
