Had oak floorboards installed a few weeks ago, on top of original floorboards. All was fine, but gradually, the floorboards along one side have bulged up to create a fair size hill adjacent to the wall, down the entire length. Probably rises around 4 or 5 cms. Now, I know there is not a dead body underneath trying to "rise up", but any other suggestions as to what has happened would be helpful. I'm wondering if it's because an insufficient expansion gap was left? House is quite damp, and room used for drying clothes (plus I live in rainy Glasgow!).

Thanks.

If you only had them laid a few weeks ago, can't you get them back to it?
Although, it does sound to me that a damp house coupled with a room used for drying clothes may have a little to do with it.
Find the cause of the damp and remedy it.
Then, stop drying clothes in there.
And make sure there's lots and lots of ventilation.
If it's a fault in the design of the house causing the damp, it may be worthwhile investing in a dehumidifier. ;)
