burner not coming on - potterton performa 24

Burner had been cycling on and off both on dhw and ch, so i changed thermistor and took out plate HE to check if it was blocked. It looked fine. However, after opening valves and repressurising, the burner is not lighting when i turn on hot water tap (or CH). The boiler also makes a weird whirring noise, which sounds like it's coming from pump.

I put back the old thermistor, but that makes no difference.

Any suggestions appreciated. Cheers.

Somehow looks to have resolved itself! My guess is that thermistor wasn't engaging properly. Anyway all good for now.
