What a stupid move, - its now gone back to being cheaper to take the car for some people and park. What a great environmental idea.

Here in London, a bus is £1.75, and if you get on any other buses within an hour of first using your bank or Oyster card, those journeys are not charged.

The last time I got a bus outside of London it was £5 for a 5 mile journey.

To put it into perspective that's £10 a week extra or £480 a year in transport costs for the lowest paid. Starmer say working people are those who can't write a check to get out of trouble so not able to afford season tickets.

Spot the contradiction?

I don't use the bus so have checked for my area. Cheapest day ticket is £8.50 which allows for travel around most of the county on a given day. Not bad I suppose.

However the kicker for me will always be the convenience vs car. If I pop down to see mum the door to door journey time is approx. 20 mins, that's me leaving my house and walking into mums.

Bus journey is 40 mins, plus maybe 15ish mins to allow for walking to/from bus stops. So let's call it an hour.

And although I have wear & tear on the car, I'm not in basic terms using £8.50 worth of diesel to make the round trip.

No thanks.

They seem intent on making decision after decision for which the optics are poor re public perception.

I used a bus last week for a 6 mile journey - it was £2 max which made me think that buses are good value. At £3 maybe not

Apparently, according to a Labour think tank, its the Nom Doms who use the buses, and as Labour have been promising for quite some time, the Nom Doms are going to have to contribute more.

I walked into town again today to get a breakfast at 'Spoons. Got the bus back in the afternoon. Top deck was heaving with non-doms. Could hardly get a seat. ;)

The plan is to do all the sh1t stuff now in the hope that come the next election everyone has forgot. -- That didn't work well for the LIB dems did it The Lib Dems went from 57 MPs in 2010 to eight in May, triggering the resignation of leader Nick Clegg. People dont forget that quickly .
