Youre not clear on what a combination light and plug socket is. Do you mean the plug socket lights up?

Buzzing is usually an electric fault, unless there is a transformer which produce buzz.

It is a small strip light with a shaving plug socket at one end mounted on the wall of the bathroom.

Unless you have a clear problem, there probably isn't one. Transformers produce buzz, and this is inevitable. Unless it is very loud.

By the way, it does buzz when the shaver is NOT plugged in. Because otherwise, it could be the shaver that's making the noise....

one other question, what are you pluging in to the socket? if its NOT a shaver then it shouldn't be in the bathroom.

As a teen I worked in an independent DIY/merchants and once had to explain to a customer that he should not attempt to plug his hairdryer into a bathroom shaver socket via a travel adaptor plug! I wonder what would have caused most problems: trying to draw 6+ amps from a 2 amp socket, the isolating transformer catching fire, or the fact that he was holding a high-powered device whilst standing in a big puddle of water with wet hands?
