Hi,
I have a problem setting the alarm on my house, the system was installed before I moved in, I have a user manual however it does not answer my problem.
I have recently moved in to the house and never used the alarm until now, I have replaced the battery as the mains lights was not on.

When I try to set the alarm, either full or part set (night setting) the key pad beeps followed by a constant tone, this does not stop and the alarm doesn't set, there are no zone lights on to indicate a fault, I have done a walk test and everything seems ok, I have also checked the external siren and that works also.

Can anyone help / give some advice to what may be wrong?

that sounds perfectly normal

most alarms give a constant tone when leaving, then after a certain time OR the final door opening then closing they set.

so if yours doesnt, i would check the front door works (assuming its the final)

you cant check the exit time /exit method becuse you dont have an engineers manual

thanks Breezer,

I tried exiting the house via the front door and the tone just stays constant.
I have also tried isolating the upstairs sensor on a part set and it is just the same.

but did you not say everything works ok on walk test?

if the font door is on it both statements do not sound true. since most panles on walk test will make a differnt noise . change to a pule stc when a device is operated, but you said the tone does not change when ypou open the front door.

that would imply:

front door not the alarm

front door is on the alarm but contact sticks (is stuck)

cable has short

panel had it

panel programmed wrong

as i am not there i ont know which it is
