The boiler is working in hot water more as a result of the fault!
The only way you can stop it is to turn the boiler off when you dont need hot water.
Much better to get it fixed now! It will cost the same when ever its done.
I am out to fix one of those faults shortly.

Its usually quite an involved job as the gas valve has to be removed to access the switch and the gland. i.e. CORGi job.
We charge about £117 inclusive of the gland and a new switch. That includes a basic service and performance check.
