Hi,

I have just installed a heating control panel on internal wall (wooden studs, plasterboard etc) and to do so, I needed to run a cable down through the hollow interior of the wall, drill a hole through the ?shoe/floor plate? of the wall (and the wooden suspended wooden floor board) to access the crawl space.

My question is, where the cable now runs through the wooden stud that makes up the bottom of the wood frame, how do I seal this hole around the cable. Or shouldn't I?

I just thought it would be a good idea to stop cold air from under the house making it up into a section of the internal wall.

Thanks in advance,

Cables don't normally like insulation. Personally, I would leave it as it is unless it is a huge hole!

A small rock wall 'bung' isn't likely to cause any significant derating.
