Hi can anyone tell me how many patio steps i need in total?

The height is 3ft

I will be placing 2 400mm slabs per steps, so total 800 wide

What should be the rise height?

In terms of the total run/depth i can be flexible but do not want to go in too deep and eat into the garden but want it safe enough for the kids

Cheers

5 steps each of 180mm(normal stair height) will give you 900mm and final step will be your upper finished level, thats the highest i would go with kids,or if room do 6 at 150mm.

Thanks, what total run/depth is that based on? The sides how deep do i go in? i.e 1 metre?

You could bring your first step or two forward to save cutting into garden,i would make each tread a minimum of 300mm,based on that you would be digging out about 1500/1800mm,bringing the first steps forward would reduce that.

I've already purchased the slabs for the steps which are 400x400mm

I was hoping to get away by only cutting in 1000mm, would this be problematic?

Otherwise I'll go with 1500mm, but will 400mm slabs be ok? With a rise of 150mm, which will be 6 steps

Rise of six to eight inches (max).
Go of 12inches to 400mms of your slabs.
