I’ve never seen a clutch this bad. Ever! Came out of a 1.2 Fiesta driven by an 80 year old woman. She’s all but lost her hearing over the past few years and she revs the granny out of it when she pulls away. Probably rests her foot on the pedal when driving without noticing the increase in revs. It was only replaced around 18 months ago too. No doubt I’ll see her again before the years out. No warranty, obviously!

Get her to buy an automatic.

Andy
Lol. I did tell her that it’s likely to need a few quid spent on it when it’s MOT is due next May so if she was thinking of changing it, now, before the clutch was fitted, would be a good time but she said she couldn’t afford another car and due to health reasons she’s planning to give up driving next year.

Anyway, whenever you see a car 'parked' on top of another car, it’s nearly always a pensioner in an automatic that got confused on a low-speed manoeuvre!

Superb! She's had her money's worth out of that clutch! There was an old dear who used to live a few doors down from my dad, who had exactly the same problem. One day, she asked my dad if he'd have a look at it for her. The fault description she gave was beautiful:

"Well, Roy, I'm not quite sure how to describe the fault but some days, the car takes me to church, but other days, I feel like I'm having to take IT to church"!

(Full marks to anyone who spots that as a description of a slipping clutch)!

Fortunately, my dad (despite living several doors away) had heard her redlining it down the road at about 20 MPH in 4th on many occasions, so he had a reasonably shrewd idea of what it might be...

What was the flywheel like, by the way? Her's was BLUE from the heat! (And that's before cars had DMFs).
