Calling big-all the ryobi king.

I have one of the big one plus Li-ion batteries and it has been intermittantly working recently and has now stopped. It charges fine and the 'fuel tank indicator' shows green but when inserted the tools don;t work, i assume it a connections issue, any advice what to do/ try first?

cheers  On a more serious note I just can't face spending 300 quid on a combi impact driver kit that will spend most of its life abused dropped and covered in dirt and rain as 95 percent of my work is outside.

Also i have yet to meet an impact driver as powerful as my ryobi 18v

afraid i dont know if its showing full i would assume a loose connection
the battery actually charges via the 2 contacts at the base off the stem on the top between the ryobi oneplus symbol and the part charged symbols so charge and discharge are different routes

i personally would try it on a different tool or a different battery on that tool to rule out the tool and blame the battery
i would then check for bad contact externally on the marked - and+ terminals at the top and ignore the the third one it does not do anything in use

then i would have an internal look after checking the +and- terminals with a meter

i have tried the bosch, and makita 18v drivers smarty pants

we didnt say try we said get :p

seriously my impact driver is the best thing ive ever owned,so versitile light but packs an almighty punch.

wish they had these things around years ago.

I love my imapct driver but I tried mine the 18v bosch blue and the makita lxt side by side on the same fixing, a 7 inch timberlok into a sleeper and the ryobi was the best of the three. Plus the fact that it is a third of the price, and therefore i don't worry so much if it gets wet, muddy or knocked about a bit.

Thanks for the help big-all, tried other tolls etc its definately just this battery. Just wanted to try and save it as its the bigger more useful one, if it was a 1.4 i might be less bothered.

It charges fine and the 'fuel tank indicator' shows green but when inserted the tools don;t work,

When Li-ion batteries fail, they indicate full, but then loose the charge very quickly - almost instantly in use

But by all means take it apart and check connections or individual cell voltage first though

new one on me lol
not in a negative way as i simply don't know more in a great something else to learn :D :D

would assume if this is the case the charge light would go out within a few mins if that wast the case or at least well before the usual 40 mins on charging
