Can a 110mm plastic coupling be used with a 4" plastic

I'm fitting new bathroom suite & have found an existing solvent welded joint in an imperial 4 inch pipe is leaking. Having read some of the posts, it is clear that cutting out the offending joint is the best solution. Can I use a 110mm pushfit coupling to connect new metric pipe? I'm worried about leaks if using a combination of imp/metric parts. Access to this pipe is quite straight forward.

i think all plastic pipe is the same size, although some of us still refer to them as 4", i have never came across a 4" plastic pipe that a new connector cant fit on to
