Can a toploader shoot out water from the top and sides?

If there isn't a big enough load in the washer for the cycle setting, can a toploader spin out the water?

Hi

I have a US top loader washing machine and Have had no problems with splashing. Have run with no load (to flush machine) and with very small loads with no probs at all.

the UK hotpoint toploader doesnt mind about its load, i suggest its blocked pump, i also suggest you read this
