can a waste pipe be connected after a U bend?

Hello all!

To drain the water from the WM,
I have connected a self cutting waste pipe to the drain under the bath.

I noticed the overflow from the bath is connected before the u bend.
it just occurred to me that I have connected the self cutting waste pipe after the u bend.

will that cause problems?

Apart from the fact it breaches building regs. it will probably smell & if you drain the bath while the washing m/c is running you may suck all the water out of it!
