Just after a little advice.

I have a 2 double sockets from a 16mcb on the consumer unit (using 2.5mm). I would like to add a few more sockets to it. Now would it be ok to make this into a complete ring or will a radial be fine? Or would it be better to update the mcb?

Ring would be better & should be fine if 2.5mm T&E. Change MCB to 32a as well.

Either is OK, it just depends on how much load you intend to add.

What are the new sockets for?

Are you aware of the Building Regulations wrt this work, and the possibility of being required to notify your LABC?

adding sockets to an existing circuit isn't notifiable is it? unless it's in a kitchen, outside,or a bathroom ( where you can't have sockets anyway.. )

cnahging the breaker would be notifiable however since you'd be changing the circuit protective measures..

the OP also doesn't indicate where he is..

no.. changing the breaker is notifiable to the LABC under part P of the building regulations and will cost you quite a lot.... ahemmmm...

you sure you want a 2Kw electric fire? and by fire do you mean an actual fire or freestanding heater?

you'd be better off with an oil filled rad.. less power, stays hot longer..
