Can i make a wet room out of hardi board alone?

ie can i just fit it on the floor and walls, tape up and bobs your uncle?

obv ill need the special angled flooring ftted too but is the use of the backing board good enuff to W/p? no tanking needed?

Its going onto chipboard flooring.

I wouldn’t be using chipboard as a base either, even the green MR variety; well supported WBP ply only.

water will penatrate throw your said backerboards,causing damage,if your doing a wetroom imo prep out properly...

1.what type of shower will there be,what water rate will be coming out of this shower?..this will dictate the size of tray you will need to install(ya dont want water ponding and heading out your bathroom door mate)

2.how thick will your former be?..this will have to be installed to the same thickness as your floor..so if its 20mm/22mm thick so will your subtrate.

3.prep floor

4.imo a wall and floor tanking membrane will be a lot better for you,installed to mfr spec.
