I am planning to do the layout+framing for an ensuite bathroom in my ground floor 2 bed flat (solid floor) using area of a cupboard, the bedroom and some of the corridor. I have just begun removing skirting and carpet from the areas and this is underneath the raised hollow floor of the cupboard. I have no experience with plumbing.
What is it and why is it here? I believe it's the pipes for the radiators but am currently shock that it would have been put somewhere like this that that could be the case, I would have assumed they would be routed through the walls not a solid floor for multiple reasons. It is also at the opposite end of the flat to the boiler. (Also how bad is this energy efficiency wise having hot water pipes buried in floor concrete.)
Do I have any option at removing this 'obstacle' without tearing up the floor.
I am going to get underfloor heating retro fitted as part of the renovation so if this is for the radiators then it can be removed/cut down and filled over, but I would have preferred to keep the existing radiator plumbing in place in case of future changes.
