Edit: My wife tells me it’s a composite door, not UPVC. What do I know?

As above. Our front door which has been on for about 15 years now is looking like it needs a new coat of paint - it’s definately a lot yellower than the white frame. I think being south facing, the sun has done its worse. Might even change the colour if it’s possible. Can it be painted and if so, what paint(s) would you recommend? If I could paint it I’d take it off, remove furniture, mask up glass, primer/undercoat (if needed) and spray it.

I would clean it down, Scotch Bright it to slightly rough it up, clean over with panel wipe, 2 coats of Zinsser Bullseye 123+, and then a topcoat suitable for plastic, maybe Zinsser All-Coat, but it's pricey

Thanks, but I’ve edited my question. Apparently it’s a composite door.

If it has yellowed then it is probably uPVC. Oil based paints do not yellow in direct sun light, uPVC does.

My GF calls our back door a composite door even though it is uPVC. In many cases, it is a marketing thing. Composite implies that it is made from more than one material, in your case, it looks like it is a (foam?) core coated with uPVC

Tikkurila Panasari Akva is designed for Upvc and similar substrates. Colourbond also do a similar version.

Blimey - my original post was in 2017 - I’m not known for rushing into things! Been thinking long and hard about this. I've just got my lazy arse round to doing it today. I used Frenchic paint. Worked a treat and very easy to put on. I bought a 750ml tin and I could probably do another 5 doors at least!
