Hi there - I'm doing some renovation work to my house, and two of the three doors to my house look like they will be temporarily blocked by asbestos removers

The other door is a patio sliding door (which will eventually be replaced) but I can't open/lock it (hopefully see attached pictures)

I thought I could quickly whip this out and replace it with something externally lockable, but no idea what to look for/buy. Can anyone suggest anything quickly?

Cheers

why do you want it to be opened from outside? Will you be on the premises while asbestos is being pulled out? With a suit and mask?

I don't see why the removers will be blocking the doors. Is it to prevent dust escaping?

A padlock will not satisfy your house insurers.

The asbestos is in my garage and the soffits on the front and back outside including the porch in front if the front door. So when they enclose it for removal, they will block the front door. The kitchen entrance is by the back of the farage, so also blocked.

I will be in the house, as that's not affected by the removal. The patio door is my only way in/out if the two doors are blocked. It's only for a few days, but I agree that a padlock is unsatisfactory

A decent padlock is probably better than a euro cylinder that can be punched through in 10 seconds!
Ring your house insurer...?
