can I trust the party wall surveyor?

Hi all

I have a mid-terrace Victorian in London, we're currently building a single-storey extension. To avoid party wall issues, we will build a brick pier out to support the required RSJ, rather than tamper with the party wall.

However I now understand that my works may still come under the Party Wall Act, due to our new foundations possibly being deeper (at 1 metre) than the neighbours': to be on the safe side, last week I contacted a surveying company that specialises in party wall issues to get help/advice.

The surveyors got back to me same day and asked for plans to confirm whether the Party Wall Act is relevant. I sent these straight away, and since then (end of last week) the surveyors have been ignoring my follow up correspondences!

Could they now be contacting my neighbours 'ambulance-chaser' style, to act for them? Since I told the surveyors that 1) we commenced building work, and 2) the house address was on the plans!

Or am I being paranoid?

Thanks in advance!

You're bring paranoid. If they were to do this, and you were to discover that they had done that, they would be in serious trouble. So, I think it's fairly unlikely. How far are your works a) from the boundary and b) from your neighbour's structure?
