Hi,
Last year we bought a new boiler, a Worcester-Bosch 35CDi. This came with a Greenstar Comfort I wireless programmable thermostat which, although working correctly, is proving to be limited in application.

The problem is that, although we can adjust the temperature from the living room, the only way we can adjust the timer is by going outdoors, round the side of the house, opening the garage (where the boiler is located) and driving the car out of the garage in order to reach the boiler, where the main control panel is located!

We're thinking of buying a Greenstar Comfort II thermostat and receiver, which provides for full control of temperature and timer from within the house, but these together would cost about £220 from Screwfix.

I have seen much cheaper alternatives (Drayton, Honeywell, etc) at B&Q. My question is, is it possible to use these non-WB models with our boiler? If it is possible, are they easy to fit, bearing in mind I am not a Gas Safe registered technician?

Assuming this is possible, are there any such models that you could recommend?

I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thank you.

Thanks for those. Two questions, though.
Will the receiver unit replace and fit in the space occupied by the present WB receiver unit?
Can I, a simple unqualified person with no specific skills to speak of, legally fit them?
