I've removed a rotten decking and am digging out ready for a sub-base right now.
Under the decking was a layer of pea-shingle which I've barrowed out ready to dig 200mm or so for type 1 sub base. So now I've got a mound of gravel I need to get rid of, alongside the soil I'm going to be digging out.
I'm wondering if I can spread the shingle over before I lay the type 1? Just to get rid of it! Would that cause any issues? Or perhaps the shingle, then some sand, then the type 1?
