it maybe possible to fix, depending on whats actually the fault - it may just need a good clean up and lubrication - and old paint removed , thats at least what i needed to do on an old door , in fact have done twice , once in old house and again at current house, on this type of lock
May cause issues with the paintwork, getting off , a stanley knife to cut the paint around the unit may be useful
These kind of locks never break.
Take it off, dismantle, clean, lubricate and refit.
It will work for another 20 years.
Most difficult part will be the redecoration.
