Can you diagnose this fridge problem?....

Hi,

Have a Candy Futura frost free fridge freezer which is now making a very annoying noise - sort of a groaning whine. To get it to stop i open the fridge door and turn the temp dial to zero (it usually sits at about 3 out of 5) and it immediately stops. I dial it back to 3 and then all is well for anything from 5 mins to 5 hours until it starts again.

Any idea?

Is it an issue with the fridge rather than the freezer going by my temporary fix? Apart from the noise it seems to work OK in terms of temps etc

PS. we recently moved and so the item has been shifted, and the kitchen has subsequently been pretty dusty after central heating was installed.

It's ice on the fan at the rear. Total defrost for 24 hrs twice a year april and oct. That will stop ice forming on the fan. You can defrost it now to cure it.

are you sure? just looked at the manual and it says that it shouldnt need defrosting at all. also, as part of the house move it would have been defrosted recently also. could the fan itself be dodgy?

All fridge freezers need defrosting twice a year, how long was it defrosted for when u moved.
