We live in a house with a history of subsidence. Everything is stable now, and the previous owner had made the floors level, but the house has an obvious lean. However, he decided to fit the windows and exterior doors on the lean, in line with the brickwork. Yes, they all look pretty wonky from the inside, but it all adds to the quirkiness! All the original sash windows were replaced with awful upvc, and there is an equally bad set of French doors at the back. We would love to replace these with an aluminium bifold door, but no one seems to know if we can do this. We've approached several companies who say they just don't know - nobody has come across this before they say! The openings are square, just not level.
The other question is, if we decide to fit sash windows (have been told can have spring balanced) should they be fitted as they are now. My other half thinks if they're made level, they'll look odd from the outside (they have stone lintels and sills, so are in line with them at the moment).
Can anyone help please?
