Can you mend holes in ovens?

My Smeg cooker is now 8 years old.

It seems to have developed a hole in the base of the oven. I notice there are scrape marks by it and I have absolutely no idea how they got there!

My first question is, is it safe to use the pyrolytic cleaning setting, or is it now too dangerous?

In fact, should I be using the oven at all if there is a hole in the base?

Can it be mended so I can safely use this setting, and if so what's the best product to use?

I suppose if we were being super hysterical as is the norm these days, we would be telling you to call an electrician immediately and go and sit in a safe space until the issue is resolved.

However, its an electric oven. They are full of holes. I am sure you will be fine.
Just keep an eye on it.

Using the oven for cooking will be fine, but i wouldn't use the pyrolytic setting as you'll be pouring water into that hole.

It's not easily fixable. I'd just put the grill tray in the base of the oven to act as a drip tray so that you don't have to clean that area again.
