I apologise if this is a buffoon like question!

Looking at changing our interior doors from brilliant white, to an oak like effect. I've noticed some oak doors are around the £100 mark. But, the solid pine ones seem to be around £35. Can the pine ones be made to look more like oak with a good oil?

Thanks

You could always try your hand at wood graining. See here for a primer

You can match the colour but not the grain. Coloured danish oil is easiest way to get even colour.

I suppose you might get it to look like oak, to someone who had never seen the real thing.

It will just look like pine stained brown.

Put lipstick on a pig, etc.

All I can say is that you guys must never have seen graining done properly

I have seen graining done properly.

I have seen graining done superbly

I have seen graining done badly

I have seen graining done very badly.
