Hi All, We are building some garden steps (6 high) and wondered if we could use concrete block paving bricks (215 x 102 x 65 mm) to form part the risers? I realise I probably should be using engineering bricks but we've got a whole load of the paving blocks lying around and seemed a shame to have to buy some new bricks.

I'm loosely following: https://www.diy.com/ideas-advice/how-to-build-garden-steps/CC_npci_100146.art as my guide along with various other things I've digested.

My rough idea was to sit the bricks on the side (102 mm) in order to provide more support to the 40 mm (thick) slabs that will sit on them - see picture below for step 1.

Just to be aware that I've not included mortar, primer or rubble/concrete for the void in the picture.

Any thoughts or helpful advise is most welcome.

Please note I'm no expert in bricks or step building just a man who likes to have a go, so be kind to me.
Thanks
Bill.
