My trusted gas fire has developed problems with ignition. It start fine when initially cold. After a while when I put it on pilot and then increase the output, the gas does not ignite immediately, but then ignites with a bang.

There was an upgrade kit for these years ago, would have expected it to be fitted way back but possibly been missed, not sure if there was a sticker or label that was fitted to say the upgrade kit had been fitted @gas112 will probably know

If it's been playing up since Cannon looked at it I would suggest you contact them. It could be something simple like a blocked jet but they should check/repair it for free.

The upgrade kits were comin on for 25 years ago there was either a yellow or green sticker put on them if memory serves me right i done the recall on them
New pilot assy new pilot tube ,new t/couple 2 stage piezo and additional clay pebbles for burner .
If yours is coming on with explosive ignition i would suggest you get as gasman to fit new pilot burner and injector assy but make sure its BF model and not standard model as good chance they are different
