Hi all,

got up this morning to find no hot water. I have a Main multipoint BF heater. It's generally fine and it needs a pretty strong wind to blow the light out. I thought this was odd because there was no wind last night.

Never mind I thought - relight it and away we go. Except it will not light. I don't mean it will not stay on I mean there is no pilot light on even when holding the button down. I can see there is a really good spark so I am thinking I should at least get a pilot light on - even if the thermo couple has gone and will not let it stay on.

I don't kn ow if it is anything to do with the issue but the pipes are all covered in condensation. Never noticed that before but then I guess it can get cold in the cubby hole it is in when there is nothing alight...

Any thoughts?

Have you checked your gas meter hasn't been turned off or locked out? Have you other gas appliances and do they work, if they are OK you will need a GSR engineer.

Gas is fine - cooker works as normal. I recon you are right... engineer time :(

Simple RGI fix. Make sure they know about multi points

Yeha - hopefully simple. I did pop the cover off and try to light it manually. There is a very tiny flame - only a few mm. This does not reach the thermo couple and therefore it cuts out when the button is released. I am guessing a filter somewhere (there is one shown in the manual) . Engineer coming on Monday and hopefully not too expensive.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Don't we all :). However taking that bit off is way way more than I am willing to do...

Well... I mentioned the blow job to the wife and she was happy to oblige. Didn't help the boiler but now I don't care about no hot water as much.
