Can't find chainsaw sprocket cover washer! Please help!

So I bought a cheap chainsaw from Toolstation to help rid my garden of trees. It was a cheapy but I only want it to clear my renovation project's garden.

About half way through the task the sprocket cover plate got bent out of shape a little and then flew off and was lost completely. Now the chain won't stay in place without it.

I can't seem to find replacements no matter where I look. Any help would be great!

This is the usual method for keeping the sprocket in place - a dished washer and E clip......most machines have a completely round shaft though.
Is this what you mean?

Hi Burnerman. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late response.

I'm not sure if that will work exactly. The only thing that covered the chain in the pic I posted was a thin metal plate like a washer with an oval hole to cover this oval shape on the sprocket

It was SORT OF like this but thinner, and the hole to match the sprocket in my pic

My Aldi special is always losing the clip, fortunately I've always managed to find it - either stuck to the inside of the cover with old engine oil or found in the grass with my metal detector.

Toolstation said they aren’t handling returns at the minute, due to the lockdown.

Do you mean the chainsaw bar? If so I think there is and it probably sits against the missing plate snugly

Mine was lost but I found it, put it back on, started up the chainsaw again, and it rattled loose and flew off into the jungle of my back garden never to be seen again

Hi again Foxhole. The manufacturer just emailed me back asking for the serial number, invoice, etc. so it looks like they're going to be doing something themselves, rather than Toolstation, who have not even replied.

There has to be a method of keeping that sprocket from sliding along the shaft, either a circlip or E clip. If there's a groove on the shaft, that's what it's for.
