Hi, Help! Ive a Glowworm combi boiler, 1st it wouldn't heat the water when heating wasn't on, only when heating was well away, secondly now the heating comes on when the timer says so but if I want to turn the boiler onto manual after the timer turns it off to have it on all day or the boiler misses the timer the red reset button comes on when I try to put the boiler on, it fires up but turns itself off in a few seconds. No amount of resetting will keep the boiler on. I have had to have it running all day and night to keep the boiler going once it turns itself on in the morning on the timer, I quickly push the button down to change it to manual then it stays on until I turn it off, but can't put it back on again.?????
Hope I haven't confused you too much and you can understand what I am trying to explain.
I'm worried I am causing more damage or it is dangerous but it is too cold not to have it on when I can get it going.
Thanks

Its too confusing what you have written.

It sounds as if you may have a faulty motor valve and as if your boiler is over due for a service!

Thanks, I thought it would confuse..... basically, the timer is set for 8am, 2hrs the boiler will come on then and stay on for 2 hours then goes off, if I want to have it on all day and it is passed the 2 hour timer when I push the little lever down to manual the red light comes on for reset, no amount of resetting will make the boiler go, so I have to push the lever down to manual whilst the heating is on during the 2hour timer then it will go on and on until I turn it off but then can't get it to go on again.
I had a service last April.
Is this any clearer????

No!!!

Might just help if you gave model of boiler Glowworm have made one or two boilers since they started. Combi narrows it down a bit but can still be one of many.

Hi, thanks, The boiler is a Compact 80e. I had it installed 7yrs ago, had a new part to heat the water and a service April 2009.
Much apreciated

Hey! had the 'MAN' in today to fix the boiler he said the gas pressure for heating the water was too low it should have been 13? but was only 8 so it is now fixed B U T he hasn't fixed the restart light.....thinks it is the board sticking so will have to get in touch with GLOW Worm thats another week????
Sorry for being soooo confusing but being blonde, female and a OAP what do you expect.
Thanks for trying to help, will now just have to wait....

I am not sure that I should accept any of those facts as an excuse!

You seem to be saying the boiler is working although the lockout light is still on.

In that case there is not much of a problem. If its not working then pester your engineer to fix it within a day or so as he should.
