Hi all

My oven packed in the other day and after going through all the symptons I worked out that the heating element has gone.

I have now order a new one and am in the process of replacing it which according to numerous forums is very simple.

I have removed the old element and am due to put the new one in. However, when I removed the old one (from the inside as I haven't had to remove the back) only one wire was attached to the element. Is this right? All the video tutorials I have seen show two and sometimes three wires connected to the element.

Any ideas?

The oven is a Caple C2211SS.

Thanks

At least one wire has fallen off (the third is usually an earth and not all have them on the element)

Nothing else to it but to remove the back really and re connect while making sure no others have been pulled off.

That's what I thought.

One more question. The screws/nuts which are holding the back of the oven in have a head I haven't come across before and I haven't got the right screwdriver/allen key. It is a cross between and allen key and a philips head.

Any ideas?

They're called Torq or Star fixings. You'll need either a T20 or T25 bit probably although you can usually get em off with a small flat bit :)

You can pick up sets of security bits for a quid or so on most tool stands at boot fairs and the like and they usually contain a selection of Torx bits.
