car starting problem

hi guys, my 1999 t reg polo 1.0 sometimes starts straight away and sometimes i have to keep the key turned for about 10 -15 secs before it turns over, battery is fine, just had a service....any ideas what it could be....?ta

Could be lots of things. Take it back to where you just had it serviced.

If you have to hold the key for 15 seconds before it will even turn over, then ignition switch would be the logical thing to change. Earlier golfs had this problem and i dont think they've changed the switches much
