Hi there accidentally my family member burnt the carpet. I have been trying to get rid of it but its still the same. Only small bits come out but its still there.

Have tried using sand paper, scissors. Doesn’t help at all

I think all you can do is cut out a bit from somewhere else in the room where it won't be noticed eg under a bookcase, and swap them round.

I had a similar problem in a rented house we lived in, I nearly got away with it too as I had my foot on it the whole time we were in the room doing the final checkout with the landlord, then I momentarily forgot and moved my foot and my deception was ruined! :p

Any carpet fibres that are synthetic will have melted and therefore be shorter than before the iron rested on them, so I doubt there is any method of removing the permanent image of the iron. I wish there were, because I have a a carpet with two of those marks !

Dog grooming tool can be used to repeatedly shave the burnt area until the mark has gone, effectiveness will be governed by how deep the burn it is.Or a carpet Repair specialist could replace that damaged area of carpet if you have any spare.

I used to look after Army houses, every bedroom had one of those - this must have been before they invented ironing boards.

When I was younger and skint I used to iron my shirts on the bedroom floor - until I had the money to buy an ironing board, that is. Never had an accident, but I think that was more luck than judgement

Thanks a lot. That helped, I really needed that response and its made me so happy! You fool

That response to a bit of joviality was quite unnecessary! All you can do is source a bit of matching carpet from somewhere else, where the pile runs exactly the same way, then cut the damaged section out to precisely slot the replacement in. You can buy hot melt carpet joiners tape, to make sure it stays put.

If you start a topic with that title, you have to expect that the jokers will rise to the occasion.

I've got a burnt carpet too.
I came out the toilet one night and I smelt/smelled a funny smell. I later discovered that my partner's daughter had been trying to dry a pair of knickers by putting them on the carpet and blasting them with the fan heater.
Apparently it was my fault because the radiator wasn't on, in the summer.

Try a disposable razor: see if you can shave the burn off, down to clean fibre. Failing that, search youtube, I've seen dome very good DIY repairs, but you may have to cut a piece out from under the sofa!
