Hi guys,

I have a carpet and a foamy underlay that came with it. Can I lay it onto the Chip Wood floor boards on the first floor? I mean, is it Ok for the synthetic foamy (soft) carpet underlay to sit on top of the wooden floor (plywood, chip wood), will it not cause any sort of rot or dampness?

Thanks,

By damp, what do you mean sweating/condensation or people spilling liquids.

Yes, I agree that laying newspapers would help in preventing from underlay sticking. Carpet will also help in maintaining your wooden floor underneath it. Regular cleaning of the floors and carpet will prevent from dampness.
