Hiya,

Looking to get one soon, say a ball-park of £200, but can stretch if something is much better for a few quid more.

Have looked at the Evo RAGE3-S model at £170 with accessory pack, but reading they're not accurate. Would love double bevel but think it may be a bit too much.

Def want depth stop.

210mm is fine, I think as I can't think of anything wider than that that i'd need to cut.

Any suggestions?

look on ebay?
you never know with the budget you have you may pick up a very nice bit of kit with everything your wanting.
if you manage to find 1 near to where you live, then perhaps you may be able to go round and see if the person can show you that its working.

I've got the evo rage. It cuts pretty well. The accuracy is OK once you get the measure of it.

Could you expand on that Nick? I'm hoping to be able to chuck a bit of skirting/architrave/general timber etc. on the base, flip the head into position, fire up and cut.

Or am I living in cuckoo land to expect that at this price?

The problem with that is you just don't know what kind of abuse people give their tools. It's all very well getting a £1k+ tool for < £2-300 but the previous owner might have chucked it all over the place.

I've got an evo rage. Mine certainly does NOT cut square. I bought it as a cheap saw for cutting unistrut, which doesn't need to be mega precise. It's fine for that, but I think it would make a real mess of finish joinery.

It's mostly pretty simple. The angle pointers on the scales needed a little tweak to get them to point to the correct angle, only half a degree or so.

The indexing on the 90, 45, etc is OK but on mine I need to push it hard against the right hand side of the stop before locking it. Then I get a good square cut

For basic chopping just go for it, if you want it a bit more precise then you need to be a little more careful.

i do agree,
hence why i said if local go round and see/listen to it in action.

Anyone got or used the Bosch GCM1xSD range?

Seen the 10" version ex display, unused and boxed for £339, down from over £1k list, so might just bite the bullet.

As it's for finished joinery no point it getting something that's not accurate as may as well use a hand saw.

I agree for framework dropping some accuracy is almost acceptable.

yep thats what my new 1 is,
lovely bit of kit.
trench cut/auto stop,laser(pointless)oh and a light,wooooo.

wonder if it will last as long as my elu did.WELL the elu is still going just been retired to the garage.
