Cat among pigeons

Quiet a useful little guide. A lot more of these seem to be appearing but there doesn’t seem to be a national policy for them. It does have a rider that implies it's only applicable if removing more than 24% of the plaster but I can't imagine anyone is notifying: & I can just imagine the response of the LABC inspector when you log new plaster work! The possibilities for interpretation of BR’s seems to be endless & even the inspectors seem to be having problems.

Ive found that the English & cross referencing methods being used in the latest issue regs. are making them more & more difficult to interpret & understand. I’ve written & worked with technical specs. my entire life & whereas practically everyone else I know has been concentrating on making them less ambiguous & easier to understand in the last 10 years, the technical team at the ODPM seem to be going in the opposite direction!

i mentioned something similar a while back....//www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=333249#333249
Missed that one; quiet frightening really as there will be many who won’t have the money to refurbish to the latest spec. putting them in the situation where it would be cheaper to pull such a structure down or let it rot where it stands; but perhaps they are working on that one as well! Maybe that’s the intention & at some point in the future we will see government repossession if you breach BR’s or don’t keep your property up to scratch; where's it all going to end!
