can anyone recomend a good quality cat's paw for pulling small to medium sized nails out and where is the best place to buy it from?
Got hundreds in our staircase that I'm trying to get ready for sanding.
Thanks

Rather than a cat's paw (and BTW even Stanley make these - available at B&Q, Screwfix, etc) I'd suggest getting something like a pair of tower pincers

have got some good tower pincers but they are no good until the head is clear of the wood, I was hoping the cats paw would be better than digging and prying the head of the nail out with a screwdrive

If they've already been knocked in flush you'll either have to dig them out for which a cat's paw will be no better than pincers or a chisel or punch them under using a hammer and appropriate size mail set (aka nail punch). Then fill the holes with 2-pack filler, which is how I'd consider tackling it. Stanley make good nail sets. Also available from B&Q, Screwfix, et al.
