Recently, while I was trying to add some photos to a disc I kept getting either 'no disc in drive' or place new disc in drive' pop up...

Looking into it a little more I realised that neither of the drives would play discs (music, pictures or files)

Checked in device manager and had the yellow exclamtion marks next to both devices....opened up the comp, checked all the connections..still nothing.

Mother board problem?

Not necessarily, what does device manager say about the problem?

Hello Egg..

It said that it could not locate the drivers..even though one of them. the cd burner was working perfectly well before I added the DVD burner

Is it possible I knocked something out on the motherboard?

You just added the DVD writer and now it doesn't work? Are they both on the same ribbon? If so, is one set to master and the other slave?

Didnt work from the start Spark...they were both on the sme ribbon yes..had trouble with the jumper settings though so I tried taking the DVD burner out of the equation and leaving the CD burner behind..still had the yellow exclamation mark next to it though.

Windows XP?
Do you have an MSDOS boot disk with CD drivers? Just wondering if it is worth doing trying it in DOS as this eliminates windows from the equation.
