Cedar TGV airgap?

Im cladding our dormer area.

I intend to counter battern main walls for air gap, but there's the fascia for guttering currently ply, was going to go over this small extruded area with my CEdar TGV (about 22cm tall) do i need to battern behind this area as well, or can i fit the TGV flat to the ply sheeting?
